About the Author

Dr. Marvin Chernoff was born in Brooklyn, but grew up in Glenís Falls, a small upstate New York town. He received his B.A. from Albany State University, his M.A. from the University of Iowa, his Ph.D. from Western Reserve University, and took a four-year post-doctoral in Adlerian psychotherapy in Chicago.

He has been, for over 40 years, a professor of counseling psychology at Indiana University and California State University at Northridge (emeritus professor), as well as being a psychotherapist in private practice.

He is also a published and produced playwright.

His dramatic comedy, CHAIMíS LOVE SONG, ran Off-Broadway for over 200 performances. The LA production earned the playwright the Valley Theater League's ADA (Artistic Director's Award) for best original comedy of the year and the producers the best original production award. It has had further full productions in Miami, Chicago, St. Louis, Texas, England, Australia, Canada, Israel, and has had many staged readings. It is published by Samuel French.

His dark comedy fantasy, KAFKAíS KASTLE KAREER, has received excellent reviews and extended runs.

He is a member of the Dramatistís Guild of America, the Association of Los Angeles Playwrights, the Association of Jewish Theaters, and First Stage of LA (where all of his plays have been developed).

His play, THE HOWIE CHRONICLES, is an adaptation of some of the stories in his book HOWIE LEARNS AMERICA.

He lives in Southern California with his psychotherapist wife, Dr. Sharon Bloom Chernoff.
